Frequently asked questions

Where is my data stored?

Exclusively on your PC, in a local database inside the launCHF folder. launCHF sends nothing to a cloud. It puts daily backups into a folder of your choice – point it at your OneDrive folder and OneDrive takes care of the cloud copy.

Do I need accounting knowledge?

No. The simple view only asks where money comes from and what it is used for. In the background this produces proper double-entry bookkeeping with journal, balance sheet and income statement that any fiduciary can work with immediately.

Which languages does launCHF speak?

The interface speaks German, English, French and Italian, switchable with one click. Independently of that, you decide per customer which language the invoice, QR payment part, e-mail and reminder appear in – so you can work in English and still invoice in French.

What do I need?

A Windows PC (Windows 10 or 11), nothing else. launCHF is portable software: Python, database and PDF generation are inside the download and run straight from the unpacked folder – there is no installer, no administrator rights and no changes to your system. On first start launCHF merely sets up its own database inside that folder. Deleting the folder removes launCHF completely.

How do I get updates?

launCHF checks daily for new versions and updates itself at the click of a button. Your bookkeeping data and settings remain untouched.
